We at the Michiana Astronomical Society invite you to our 1st annual Mini Star party, Come see the stars and bring your telescope and harvest some spring photons! we will have Solar, Lunar, and deep sky viewing along with several astrophotographers. This will be an observation only event.
cost of this event is $40 for adults with early registration and $45 at the door under 18 is free and we also have day passes for $10
You do not need to have a telescope to attend but if you have one and need help, we are happy to give guidance.

The Universe for Your Wall
My main focus is astrophotography images printed on metal for your home or office. However, I do offer images on polystyrene and 12x18 street signs. Sizes for polystyrene are 7X10 inches and 12x18. Metal can be created up to a maximum of 40X60 inches Maximum size varies depending on image resolution. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for all orders.
Have a special request? Would you like a Sun or Moon to be imaged on a specific date? Contact me with your request and I will capture it, weather permitting.
The World of Astrophotography
The sky is full of beautiful, deep space objects that we cannot see with our naked eye, and can barely see visually through a telescope. This is where astrophotography comes in. These images have been taken in multiple sessions with many hours of time spent on each target. Here you can see the progression to the nebula images and space art that I have available for purchase.
These images have been taken with various cameras and filters. Sometimes I use a one shot color camera with a light pollution filter and other times I use a monochrome camera with Silicon II Oxygen III and Hydrogen alpha filters to bring out the color.
What is a Color Palette?
Imaging with a Mono camera requires the use of filters that allow only specific wavelengths of light to pass. The most common wavelengths of light are produced by the ionized gas from Hydrogen alpha (H) Sulfur II (S) and Oxygen III. The base images are then aligned and installed in the Red, Green, and Blue color channels in specific orders to achieve the desired color palette. The palettes are labeled in the order of the red, green, and blue which brings meaning to the labels: SHO, HSO, HOO, HSS, and SHH.

I am a U.S. Navy Veteran who has always loved the stars and astronomy. imaging nebulae, galaxies, and stars is my passion and I want to share it with you. The Universe offers some of the most beautiful and amazing things to see and photograph. Nothing is as incredible as a clear moonless night out at sea!
